Damon Dash Plans Lawsuit Against "The Breakfast Club" Over Defamation Claims
Damon Dash is threatening legal action against "The Breakfast Club" after a tense interview that he says crossed the line into defamation and disrespect.
The Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder said during a sit-down with "Cam Capone News" that he's preparing to sue the syndicated morning show and others involved in what he believes was a smear campaign against him.
"I'm suing The Breakfast Club, but I also sent a demand letter to [pause] the Chris Brown lawyer and everyone that was in that whole circle and scene," Dash said. "The thing is, we on the radio. So if you say I got dirty sneakers, playing or not, they can't see it. Then they're going to think I got on dirty sneakers. It's going to get into the algorithm. 'Dame has on dirty sneakers.' I don't want to hear that when I got on new sneakers."
Dash claims the hosts twisted his words and painted him in a negative light during the interview, regardless of what he said.
He also referenced the show's treatment of conservative commentator Ben Shapiro as an example of what he sees as bias.
"What I really didn't like is the way they interviewed Ben Shapiro. Someone that triggers our culture constantly. They gave him the utmost respect. They let him talk," Dash said.
The Harlem native, who has long been outspoken about media narratives and industry politics, said he's choosing to fight back in court rather than escalate things elsewhere.
"The people that have been f###### with me, and I think it's been illegal the way they've been f###### with me, I'm not going to take it to the street," he said. "'Cause I'm not in the street. I look at what President Donald Trump does. He sues people."
Damon Dash Accuses The Breakfast Club Of Tearing Down "Your Own Culture"
Dash also took to Instagram to express his frustration with the show's approach.
"Why would they give another culture more respect than their own?" he wrote. "I just dont understand. Smh @cthagod Are they paying you to do it? Either you hate us or someone is paying you do to it. Allegedly. #Stop tearing your own culture down challenge."

The interview, which aired earlier this month, was filled with tension as Dash pushed back on claims about his financial status and past business dealings.
He challenged the hosts for relying on internet rumors and accused Charlamagne of being disingenuous, even questioning his loyalty to Hip-Hop culture, masculinity and his ties to JAY-Z.
The Breakfast Club has not issued a public response to Dash's legal threat as of Monday.
