Quavo's "Rich Flex" Interpolation On "Honey Bun" Gets Mixed Reactions On Twitter

Twitter came through with some strong reactions to Quavo's newest track "Honey Bun," which he previously teased. Moreover, many took special note of his interpolation of the now infamous chorus on Drake & 21 Savage's "Rich Flex," AKA the "Can you do somethin' for me?" flow. Over a bell-heavy and menacing trap instrumental, the Migos icon takes a more boastful, combative, and aggressive tone than his previous singles, both lyrically and delivery-wise. However, not everyone loved the homage to the Her Loss hit, and some criticized the song for other reasons.

"Quavo did not say honey bun can you do sum for me i know he lying," one user wrote on Twitter. Whether they found it corny, unfitting, or straight-up bad, a lot of people had different reasons to criticize the hook. Despite that reaction, many are missing out on some of the song's other notable features. For example, the Georgia native raps, "I don't wanna hear no sorry for my loss," as well as "They wanna see my emotions, I ain't smilin' at all."

Quavo's New Single Leaves Fans Divided

With those bars, Quavo seems to address how people approached him following the tragic loss of his nephew and fellow Migos member Takeoff. Moreover, the process of grief is always a difficult and personal one, and being a celebrity can dampen or intrude on that process. As such, there is much more to "Honey Bun" than the chorus might have you believe, even though it is its most easily identifiable characteristic. Another smaller reason why some fans expressed disappointment is because Yeat was rumored to also appear on the track, as they were spotted together around its announcement.

Meanwhile, the 31-year-old was also in the news this week due to fling rumors with singer and actress Chlöe, which she sort of denied. While she didn't necessarily confirm the rumors, she didn't outright deny them either. It was during a conversation with Latto, and they labeled him a "really nice guy" and complimented his locs. Regardless of that gossip, fans' attention's clearly turned to this divisive single and its reference to one of last year's biggest hits.
