Golden Knights Donate One Million Dollars to Forever One Memorial Honoring Route 91 Victims

The Golden Knights' deep connection to Las Vegas was forged during the city's darkest days, following the Oct. 1, 2017 mass shooting that occurred just before the team began its inaugural NHL season. In the years since, the Knights have remained steadfast community leaders in the ongoing recovery and healing process.

Most recently, the Golden Knights and their VGK Foundation presented the Vegas Strong Fund with a $1 million donation to support the construction of the Forever One Memorial. This memorial is intended as a permanent tribute of hope, healing, and remembrance for those affected by the Route 91 tragedy. The gift, the first major private contribution to the project, will help ensure the installation is completed in time for the 10th remembrance of Oct. 1 in 2027.

The donation was presented at City National Arena during a team practice, with Vegas Strong Fund Chairperson Jan Jones Blackhurst leading the ceremony. Blackhurst, a former Las Vegas mayor, emphasized the Knights' immediate and ongoing support for the community: "From the very beginning, the Vegas Golden Knights helped our community heal in the aftermath of the Route 91 tragedy by jumping into action, giving us hope, pride and uniting the community when we needed it most. This generous gift continues that legacy of compassion and strength, ensuring the Forever One Memorial will stand as a permanent tribute to the lives we lost and the resilience of all who were forever changed. We are deeply grateful for the Knights' commitment to honoring our past and supporting our future."
