From Motuongo Biina to the World: The Rise of Jolly Jade

In the heart of Kampala, Uganda, one name is steadily rising in the local music scene - Mutagubya Joseph, better known by his stage name Jolly Jade. An artist, rapper, and singer from Motuongo Biina, Jolly Jade represents a new generation of Ugandan talent blending passion, authenticity, and purpose.

Jolly Jade's musical journey began in 2020, shortly after completing Form 6. Though music had always surrounded him, that was the moment he decided to take it seriously. "I grew up in a humble background, and from day one, I've always wanted to use my music to lift my family and inspire my community," he says.

After earning a Bachelor's degree in Drama and Film at Makerere University (MUK), Jade found a deeper understanding of emotion and storytelling - elements that shine through in his songs. His artistry bridges powerful lyricism and melody, a sound he proudly calls melodic rap - "real words, real feelings, but still vibey and musical."

Inspired by Ugandan artists like Nutty Nathan and Binnie Gunter, Jolly Jade began by exploring dancehall but soon carved out his own lane in rap and melodic expression. His music often reflects themes of love, confidence, and growth - speaking directly to anyone chasing a dream from humble beginnings.

His latest project, The Flower Boy, set to release on November 11th - also his birthday - marks a milestone in his artistic journey. "This album is one of my most personal works yet," Jade shares. "It's all about love, emotion, and human connection."

Supported by family, friends, and a growing fanbase, Jolly Jade continues to rise, using his art to empower others to believe in themselves and reach for more.

From Motuongo Biina to the world, Jolly Jade's story is a reminder that no matter where you start, your voice can bloom into something beautiful.
