First 'Black Entrepreneurs Day' scheduled at State Capitol

   



Black-owned small businesses will take center stage at the inaugural "Black Entrepreneurs Day." A small army of Black entrepreneurs and small business owners will trek to the State Capitol on the morning of Feb. 3 for a first-of-its-kind event designed to shake things up on their behalf.

NORTH ST. PAUL, Minn. - A high school boys basketball game has been canceled Friday because of the controversy surrounding a coach.

Players on North St. Paul decided unanimously not to play their game against Eden Prairie.

"I feel like it's very brave of our boys to take a stand," said Dream McLaughlin, the mother of one of the players.

Eden Prairie's coach, David Flom, was reinstated to the job this week after being suspended reportedly for reading a racial slur aloud during a lesson to his team on social media use.... Read more

ST PAUL, Minn. - The Minnesota Senate passed the CROWN Act with a 45-19 vote on Thursday, along with a bill that would recognize Juneteenth as a state holiday.

The CROWN Act, also known as H.F. 37, prohibits discrimination based on natural hair in the workplace and in schools. The act would update the Minnesota Human Rights Act to include hair discrimination as racial discrimination.... Read more

Cody Fohrenkam found guilty of murdering Deshaun Hill

   

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Cody Fohrenkam was found guilty on all charges in the murder of Deshaun Hill.

The jury went back for deliberations at 1:30 p.m. and reached a verdict in just one hour on Thursday. 

Fohrenkam was found guilty of second-degree intentional murder and second-degree unintentional felony murder.

Minneapolis officials have decided to implement Winter Parking Restrictions beginning 9 p.m. tonight, Jan. 26 to ensure city streets are passable for emergency vehicles, buses and other travelers in the face of heavy snow accumulation this winter.

When Winter Parking Restrictions begin tonight, parking will be banned on the EVEN numbered side of non-Snow-Emergency routes until April 1, unless conditions allow the City to lift the ban earlier. MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - The city of Minneapolis will enforce one-sided street parking starting Thursday on streets that aren't snow emergency routes.

The streets are shrinking with every new snow event, so it's becoming hazardous for just about anyone to drive them, but it's especially problematic when fire trucks, ambulances, and school buses can't make it through.
