Bears Lose to Buccaneers

Bears Lose to Buccaneers

Tom Brady became the first player to throw 600 career touchdown passes, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers routed the Chicago Bears 38-3 on Sunday for the best seven-game start in franchise history.
The defending Super Bowl champions won their fourth straight game, improving to 6-1 and avenging one of their five regular-season losses from a year ago, with Brady completing 20 of 36 passes for 211 yards and four TDs.The Tampa Bay defense did its job, too, limiting the offensively challenged Bears (3-4) to Cairo Santos' second-quarter field goal and sacking rookie Justin Fields four times, forcing two fumbles. Dee Delaney had one of the Bucs' three interceptions, a first-quarter pick that led to Brady's 599th career TD pass.

Braves Win NLCS Beating Dodgers

Braves Win NLCS Beating Dodgers

As his team was concluding the National League Championship Series with a 4-2 win in Game 6 on Saturday night at Truist Park, Braves president of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos was in manager Brian Snitker's office, nervously organizing old media guides while watching the television broadcast.
"When we got the last out, I said, 'We're going to the World Series, I can't believe it,'" Anthopoulos said. Disbelief seemed to be a common reaction as Atlanta earned its first trip to the World Series since 1999. As Dansby Swanson made a diving stop and threw AJ Pollock out to end the game, Snitker stayed seated in the dugout as bench coach Walt Weiss and other coaches swarmed him.

Bulls Beat Pistons

Bulls Beat Pistons

After narrowly beating the Detroit Pistons in the season opener on Wednesday, the Chicago Bulls had a much better performance against the same team at home three days later. While much of the focus on this team has been on the offense, it was the defense that was locked in, limiting the Pistons to just 38.6 percent shooting from the field and 17.9 (!) percent from three-point land. They held Detroit to just 26 points in the second and third quarter combined, leading to a decisive 97-82 win. The Bulls were active all over the floor defensively, forcing 23 turnovers, leading to 24 points on. Chicago even protected the rim well with 11 blocks, including one huge stuff that Lonzo Ball made on Isaiah Stewart in the second quarter.

Bulls Get Win Over Pelicans

Bulls Get Win Over Pelicans

The Bulls welcomed back home fans for the first time in a long time, and put on a performance worth the wait in a 128-112 domination over the visiting Pelicans.
This was a game the Bulls surged out to an early lead after some ugly early shooting by both squads, and never really were threatened by the Pelicans. There was a brief point in the 3rd quarter where an over-20 point lead got trimmed to 10, but by the 4th it was up near a 30-point advantage and while Zach LaVine really didn't need to come back in it was pretty cool that he did.

Sources: Simmons Says He's Not Mentally Ready

Sources: Simmons Says He's Not Mentally Ready

UPDATE: Philadelphia 76ers All-Star guard Ben Simmons plans to meet with medical professionals for an evaluation after telling the team Friday that he wasn't mentally ready to play to his expectations and needed time to step away, sources told ESPN. Simmons met separately with coach Doc Rivers, medical staff and teammates Friday morning at the team's facility in Camden, New Jersey, and started a process that is expected to continue to keep him from making his season debut, sources said. After he told the team's medical staff of his reasons for needing to seek help, the Sixers continued to offer Simmons whatever resources are necessary to assist him, sources said.

Chris Taylor, Dodgers Beat Braves

Chris Taylor, Dodgers Beat Braves

Chris Taylor homered three times, becoming the first player in MLB history to do so in a potential elimination game, as the Los Angeles Dodgers prevailed in Game 5 of the NLCS on Thursday. With their 11-2 blowout win over the Braves at home, the Dodgers cut their deficit in the best-of-seven series to three games to two and forced a Game 6 back in Atlanta on Saturday.
Atlanta barged to an early 2-0 lead in Game 5 with a first-inning home run by Freddie Freeman off "opener" Joe Kelly. Kelly was forced from the game shortly after because of biceps tightness. That Braves lead, however, was short-lived. In the second, A.J. Pollock and Taylor each homered off Atlanta ace Max Fried to give the hosts a 3-2 lead. Taylor drove in another run in the third, and then in the fifth he hit his second two-run home run of Game 5. In the seventh, Taylor became just the 11th player ever to homer three times in a postseason game.

Blackhawks Lose to Canucks

Blackhawks Lose to Canucks

After an already disastrous 0-3-1 start to the 2021-22 season, The Blackhawks were unable to avoid yet another loss on Thursday night in a 4-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night at the United Center. Chicago hoped that a pregame ceremony celebrating Patrick Kane's 1,000 game milestone from last season would be the catalyst for a strong first period of hockey. After a lot of back-and-forth reminiscent of ping-pong, the Canucks grasped the lead with a goal from Jason Dickinson.

Mayfield's Left Shoulder has Fracture on Top of Tear

Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield told Fox Sports he suffered a fracture to the humerus bone in his left shoulder, in addition to the torn labrum. Mayfield added that the fracture in the non-throwing shoulder is "preventing his rotator cuff from firing." "I need that fracture to heal for me to get back out there," Mayfield said shortly before Cleveland's Thursday night kickoff against the Denver Broncos. Mayfield suffered the torn labrum in Week 2 but he aggravated the injury again in Sunday's loss to Arizona. After Cardinals defensive end J.J. Watt drove Mayfield's left shoulder into the turf, he stayed down for several minutes before coming back in to finish the game.

Bulls Win Opener Against Pistons

Bulls Win Opener Against Pistons

Zach LaVine can still score in bunches when needed. LaVine scored 15 of his 34 points in the third quarter to spark sluggish Chicago, leading the Bulls to a 94-88 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night in the opener for both teams. Detroit's Jerami Grant was off on an 11-foot baseline jumper with 50 seconds left, missing a chance to tie it. The Bulls sealed the victory by making free throws.
LaVine, an Olympian and All-Star, had a block and a steal to help hold Detroit to 40% shooting. "Zach really worked on both ends of the floor," Chicago coach Billy Donovan said. DeMar DeRozan had 17 points, and Lonzo Ball had 12 points in their Bulls debut as both players work on creating chemistry on the court with LaVine.

Blackhawks Lose to Islanders

Blackhawks Lose to Islanders

The Blackhawks are now 0-3-1, and started the home part of their season off on the wrong foot, falling to the Islanders 4-1 on Tuesday night at the United Center. At least - like a CM Punk knee to the face - it felt quick. The Blackhawks again failed to win a game, but also failed to lead for a single second - another thing they haven't done yet this season. Hey, at least MacKenzie Entwistle scored. The Islanders scored their first goal after a play behind the net.
