Are you ready to see some of your favorite bible tales reimagined into modern-day stories?

Media maven Tyler Perry and author/motivational speaker DeVon Franklin have teamed up to produce faith-based films for Netflix. Their exciting endeavor is part of Tyler Perry's multi-year and multi-picture first-look deal at Netflix. One project subscribers of the streaming giant can expect to see from Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin is a modernized version of the biblical story of Ruth and Boaz entitled "R&B." The film's synopsis notes it will take place in Tennessee and centers on a young woman who,

"escapes the Atlanta music scene to care for an elderly widowed woman and in the process finds the love of her life and gains the mother she never had."

The film was written by Mike Elliott, who is known for films such as "Brown Sugar," "Just Wright," and "Like Mike," and Cory Tynan.

Speaking on his partnership with DeVon Franklin, Tyler Perry said,

I'm so excited to be working with DeVon on this and future projects. I think in this polarizing world, and at a time where the world seems to be growing colder everyday, we both share the common goal of wanting to spread some good. And there's no better place than Netflix."

DeVon Franklin, who made his producing debut for the 2014 Christian drama film "Heaven Is for Real," added,

"Tyler and I have been great friends for over 15 years, so when he called me to team up on movies that can uplift the human spirit, I jumped at the chance and we couldn't have a better partner than Netflix to help us inspire the world."

Wendy Williams Lifetime Doc Producers Were 'Worried' About TV Host's Living Conditions While Filming
The producers of Lifetime's controversial Wendy Williams documentary, Where is Wendy Williams, have expressed concerns about the TV host receiving proper care under her guardianship.

During a recent panel discussion held in Hollywood, executive producers of the docuseries, Mark Ford and Erica Hanson, spoke on the alleged unsettling circumstances Wendy Williams was living under during production. The producers mentioned that the 59-year-old lived alone without food in her refrigerator. They also alluded she's being kept away from her loved ones.

You may recall, the 4.5-hour project faced backlash following its release in February as many felt it was inappropriate to showcase the TV personality in such a vulnerable state with a serious medical condition. That same month, it was announced that Wendy Williams was diagnosed with dementia some time last year.



In early 2022, Williams was placed under a conservatorship after Wells Fargo froze her accounts following her financial adviser at the time claiming she was of "unsound mind."

Speaking on what he witnessed, Ford expressed,

"Towards the end of the documentary, [we] were very, very worried and saying to her management, who was the only other person that was coming into her apartment on a daily basis, 'Something has to be done to help her, this is getting very dire and scary.'"

Ford went on to claim that the producers were not informed of Williams' medical diagnosis.

He continued,

"The deeper we got into it, we didn't want to let go of Wendy until we got her back in touch with her family. Because we felt that at a certain point that's who's going to be there for her to care for her."

In addition to the producers believing Williams was not receiving adequate care, Ford said the entertainer's legal and financial guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, was "not responding to any kind of calls for help." While Sabrina Morrissey has yet to respond to the allegations, she did previously file a lawsuit to prevent the Lifetime project from being aired.

In her complaint, she slammed the docuseries and claimed it "shamelessly exploits [Williams] and portrays her in an extremely demeaning and undignified manner." Sabrina Morrissey also said that the talk show host "did not have the capacity to consent" to the doc. On top of that, she alleged she was not asked for her consent from producers as Williams' court-appointed guardian to produce the project.

A judge ultimately ruled the doc would air.

Whoopi Goldberg Details How She Overcame Serious Cocaine Addiction In Upcoming Memoir
Actress/comedian Whoopi Goldberg is opening up about her previous drug use in her upcoming memoir.

In her new book, Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me, Whoopi Goldberg, 68, details her battle with a serious addiction to cocaine. She also shares what led to the moment she realized she had to get clean. According to the EGOT winner, places like New York and Hollywood had their own meaning of "recreational drug use" during her rise to fame in the 80s.

Whoopi Goldberg recalls,

"I was invited to parties where I was greeted at the door with a bowl of Quaaludes from which I could pick what I wanted. Lines of cocaine were laid across tables and bathroom counters for the taking."

In her memoir, the "View" co-host explains that "everyone partook" in drug use at these types of parties because police would never raid the home of a "big-time producer or actor." Whoopi also admits to believing she could "handle" cocaine because she didn't think it was "dangerous" after managing to hide her drug use for about a year. She says she was even able to work in the midst of it all and show up to set on time.

However, later on, Whoopi says the cocaine then "started to kiss [her] *ss" and she began experiencing hallucinations. In one instance, she details the time she believed she saw a creature under her bed after taking the drug.

"So I didn't move out of bed for twenty-four hours. That kind of sh*t doesn't end pretty. There's only so long a person can hold their bladder."

The "Sister Act" star eventually had a "slap in the face moment" during her stay at a Manhattan hotel. Whoopi realized she struggled with addiction after a housekeeper walked in on her getting high in the closet. As the TV personality got up to explain it was her room, she saw the reflection of her face in the mirror, which was covered with cocaine.

Whoopi admits she left drugs alone by changing who she surrounds herself with and declining invites to parties. While she considers herself lucky to be sober, she adds that she made the change in her life because she "didn't want to die."

As Porsha Williams and Kenya Moore are confirmed for Season 16, there's still no word on whether Sheree Whitfield and Drew Sidora will return.

During a visit to Dr. Heavenly Kimes' dental office, Drew Sidora briefly commented on the upcoming season. When asked by Dr. Heavenly Kimes if the show would be good this year, Drew Sidora replied,

"I really, really hope so. I really do, it has to be."

Kandi Burruss-Tucker and Marlo Hampton have both made statements about their departure from the series. Kandi Burruss previously announced she was leaving "Housewives" after 14 seasons on the 2024 Grammys' red carpet, stating:

"I decided I'm not coming back this year ... I'm going to take a break, I'm going to take a moment... I'm not coming back this year."

"My contract with Real Housewives of Atlanta ended when season 15 wrapped. This break from RHOA is a fresh start, allowing me the space to participate in new creative entertainment projects focused on my future, and not reliving my past."

While Sanya Richards-Ross has yet to make a formal statement, "Housewives" producer and reunion host Andy Cohen asked his guest, Mariah Smith, how she felt about Kandi Burruss, Sanya Richards-Ross, and Marlo Hampton leaving the show on his radio program (March 14). This marked the first time that anyone from the network had acknowledged Sanya Richards-Ross' departure from the series.

There has been plenty of buzz on social media about former cast members possibly returning, like Phaedra Parks (currently of "Married to Medicine") and Latoya Howard, as well as rumors about new faces joining the cast, such as entrepreneurs Ming Lee, Tiffany Rose, and Gucci Mane's wife, Keyshia Ka'Oir.

Fans can expect to see Porsha Williams' contentious divorce from Simon Guobadia and Kenya Moore's hair spa on their screens. However, they'll have to wait a bit longer to find out who will officially join the "season five queens."

comedian Tiffany Haddish might hate college students more than Kendrick Lamar hates Drake.

Over the weekend the "Night School" star took the stage for the 2024 Netflix Is A Joke Festival. During her standup performance, Tiffany Haddish addressed the countless college students protesting across the globe in support of Palestine. For those unaware, encampments have recently emerged at several universities, with students calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and for their schools to divest from companies that support Israel.

The actions of the students have received mixed reactions from the public. While some have shown solidarity with their mission, others have criticized the students for their beliefs. Tiffany Haddish is seemingly someone who isn't here for the protests, speaking on the subject, she started with,

"I don't give a f*ck about that sh*t. I never went to college, why would I care about college."

After receiving pushback from an audience member, she continued,

"There's not genocide at the college. I give a f*ck about what's going on, on the other side of the world, but why would I give a f*ck about the college?... This the sh*t I'm talking about, stupid motherf*ckers at the college. Ain't never worked a godd*mn day in your life."

Speaking on the terrorist attacks that took place on September 11, 2001, Haddish said,

"Do you remember 9/ll, b*tch?...What the f*ck did we do, America?...We went the f*ck over there [and] we f*cked they *ss up, didn't we?"

In another video from the stand-up performance that has since surfaced online, Haddish also said,

"I went over there to Israel, it's a gang of Black people that live there, and they Jewish, and circumcised...every religion is there! ...Everybody was there. Palestinians was there and they was telling me what it was like over there in Gaza and they was telling me how hard it is to be from there and I was like, 'D*mn, you describing South Central L.A. on ten, b*tch."

As previously reported, earlier this year Haddish faced backlash for visiting Israel amid the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to "learn and see" with her own eyes what is occurring overseas.

She continued during her recent comedy set,

"It was crazy, and I'm very upset about the whole thing. I want there to be peace. We deserve peace, they deserve peace. Peace. And us over here causing turmoil over here don't create peace. You know what creates peace, take your *ss over there and go f*ck - protest to they parliament, I don't even know what kind of judicial - I don't give a f*ck."

Kim Kardashian made a surprise appearance on Netflix's "The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady" (May 5th), receiving a mixed reaction from the audience. Hosted by Kevin Hart, Kim Kardashian faced loud boos as she attempted to give a toast during the comedy special at the Kia Forum.

Addressing the boos, Kim Kardashian attempted to calm the audience with:

"Alright, alright, alright."

Continuing her remarks, Kim alluded to previous rumors of her dating Tom Brady, suggesting it likely wouldn't have worked out, before comparing his looks to her stepdad, Caitlyn Jenner.

"I do know it would've never worked out ... an ex-athlete, high cheekbones, silky hair... You remind me too much of my stepdad now."

On-screen, a meme portraying the "evolution of Tom Brady" appeared, showcasing a series of photos tracking Brady's appearance until it resembled Caitlyn Jenner.

Kim concluded her toast by mentioning O.J. Simpson, expressing,

"Honestly, it's hard for me to watch people roast you. But I think enough of my family members have helped defend former football players."

In another segment of the Netflix special, Kim faced more criticism when comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made a (controversial) joke aimed at her, which many have since found "misogynistic."

Hinchcliffe's joke came after commentary on actor Will Ferrell's role as Ron Burgundy in "Anchorman." Referencing the film's famous line, Hinchcliffe jokingly said,

"A whale's vagina. Which reminds me, Kim Kardashian's here. She's had a lot of Black men celebrating her end zone. Kim, word of advice, close your legs. You have more public beef than Kendrick and Drake."

Many social media users took to X (formerly Twitter) to react to the shocking moment.

One X user claimed the joke was misogynistic, stating:

"I'm no Kim K fan but this is ridiculous, misogynistic and just uncalled for. It's not even funny. Just crass and disgusting"

Another user stated similar sentiments:

"Putting the blatant misogyny aside for a second, the joke itself is lazy and objectively unfunny."

Although Hinchcliffe received backlash, some social media users praised his set:

DJ Vlad Backtracks After Facing Backlash For Trying To Get Black Professor Fired Over Drake Vs. Kendrick Lamar Comments
Well-known media personality DJ Vlad apparently had no ill intentions when he tried to get a Black woman fired over the weekend.

The ongoing feud between rappers Drake and Kendrick Lamar has garnered much attention. On May 4, Kendrick Lamar released his latest record amid the beef, "Not Like Us," where he continues to call Drake and his team pedophiles. He also builds on his previous statements that the Toronto native is a culture vulture "colonizer" who has made his career by copying his peers.

The song went viral moments after its release, as many weighed in on its message and mentioned allegations. One critic of the record was DJ Vlad, real name Vladislav Lyubovny. However, with a song called "Not Like Us," some questioned why the interviewer (of Russian descent) would feel comfortable interjecting himself into a hip hop beef between two Black men.

Princeton University professor Morgan Jerkin, who also happens to be the niece of Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, was among those who took issue with DJ Vlad's commentary, telling him,

"This is a BLACK FOLK AFFAIR."

From there, things got a little interesting. DJ Vlad proceeded to directly @ Princeton University multiple times, in hopes of getting Morgan Jerkin fired for what he labeled "ignorant & bigoted comments." In one of his posts directed at the Ivy League school, he wrote,

"Good luck being a professor at @Princeton again. I doubt the university supports their faculty telling non-black students to shut the fuck up about anything Hip-Hop related because of their skin color."

DJ Vlad's posts on X prompted countless users of the app to slam him. Despite threatening to call the university on Monday (May 6) to make a formal complaint, DJ Vlad seemed to have a change of mind. He wrote to his account this morning,

"Since it's Monday, let me clear the air and state that I never had any intention of filing a complaint to Princeton for former professor Morgan Jerkins saying that white people aren't allowed to comment on Kendrick Lamar's music. She trolled me and I trolled back. At the end of the day, it created an interesting discussion about race relations in America. I will be discussing it further in my future interviews."

Unfortunately for the Ukraine native, the damage is already done. Reacting to his backtracking, Morgan Jerkin said,

"A lie. He tagged my employer multiple times with the intention to professionally harm me. I didn't troll. I centered Black people in a discussion on hip-hop and told him to stand down bc it's not his space."

She added,

"You tried to get violent and you realized how many people were in my corner."

Drake Credits Himself For Bringing Kendrick Lamar Back Into the Game In Latest Diss Record: 'I'm Happy I Could Motivate You'
Titled 'The Heart Part 6,' rapper Drake released his latest diss track aimed at Kendrick Lamar, referencing Kendrick Lamar's famed "The Heart" series. The track made its debut on Sunday, May 5, sparking more controversy as Drake called out Kendrick Lamar for his alleged lies and even takes credit for inspiring Kendrick Lamar's return to the rap scene.

The diss record, featuring a sample of Aretha Franklin's "Prove It," made its debut on YouTube. It was accompanied by cover art depicting an Instagram comment from Dave Free, Kendrick's manager. The comment, a black heart and hand-heart, was left on a photo of Kendrick's fiancée Whitney Alford with their children back in November of 2023.

Drake came out swinging, reigniting allegations of domestic violence against Lamar and taking aim at Kendrick's manager, Dave Free, for allegedly fathering a child with Whitney.

"And why isn't Whitney denyin' all of the allegations?

Why is she following Dave Free and not Mr. Morale?

You haven't seen the kids in six months, the distance is wild

Drake also tackled previous accusations of pedophilia by Kendrick in tracks like "Meet the Grahams" and "Not Like Us," swiftly countering Kendrick's claims:

Instead of being on some diss-direct sh**

Drake continued by addressing his friendship with the 20-year-old actress Millie Bobby Brown:

"Only f***in' with Whitneys, not Millie Bobby Browns, I'd never look twice at no teenager."

Responding to Kendrick's previous allegations of hiding an 11-year-old daughter, Drake asserted that his camp purposely fed false information to Lamar, baiting him into a reaction:

"We plotted for a week and then we fed you the information

A daughter that's eleven years old, I bet he takes it

We thought about giving a fake name or a destination

But you so thirsty, you not concerned with investigation."

Drake then emphasized the importance of fact-checking and patience:

"You gotta learn to fact check things and be less impatient,

Your fans are rejoicin', thinkin' this is my expiration"

In a final blow, Drake expressed disappointment in Kendrick's alleged lies throughout his recent string of diss tracks, while also claiming credit for motivating Kendrick and bringing him back onto the scene:

The track marks Drake's latest entry into the ongoing battle with Kendrick. The two have been exchanging shots for years, but tensions peaked in March when Kendrick Lamar responded to Drake and J. Cole's "First Person Shooter" on Future and Metro Boomin's "Like That" by denouncing "The Big 3," declaring:

JT Denies Dissing Sukihana & Slams The Zeus Star For Attempting To Use Her For Clout: 'You KNEW I Wasn't Talking About YOU'
Rap stars JT and Sukihana have been having a heated back and forth on social media.

The entertainers have been hurling insults at one another ever since the Zeus star accused the City Girls member of shading her on a song.

The drama began after Sukihana posted a video asking JT to clear up speculations that a line about crab legs and broken teeth in her recently released single "Okay" was a shot at her. After the Miami rapper was silent on the matter, the "Baddies" star began targeting JT directly, writing in one post uploaded to X (formerly Twitter):

"She pretty then a muf**a but she be doing cocainnnn"

She added in another:

"Y'all pray for me nothing wrong it's just Jt lips use to be so white"

Following Sukihana's tweets, social media users continued to fuel tensions between the two with some surmising that JT's silence was either an admission of truth or her being afraid of going toe to toe with Sukihana. However, the "Act Up" rapper soon addressed the matter, claiming that her song was not a diss towards anyone and that she was not responding because she was busy promoting her new music, which she says Suki was fully aware of.

The self-proclaimed 'City Cinderella' went on to take even lower digs at Suki, attacking her character and claiming that the two are not on the same level. She wrote in other tweets:

"Suki is a pick me a** b***ch a shock value baiting clueless a** h** who cosplay a real b**ch but nothing real about her talapia smelling a** h** go from network getting PIMPED still ain't POP! Jealous envious a** h**!"

As JT let off more steam, Suki said she was not going to engage any further on social media and planned to take their beef to the booth, writing in a post:

"I was finna roast tf out of floptavia aka Ms Sh**ty girl during her coke rant but I'm gone take it to the booth and show you I can really rap bum a** long tittie bed bug looking winch"

Which prompted a slew of responses from JT.

Jeezy Claims Jeannie Mai Wants To 'Destroy' His 'Name And Reputation' w/Abuse Allegations Because He Didn't Want Another Child
Rap star Jeezy is defending himself against domestic abuse accusations from his soon to be ex-wife Jeannie Mai.

The musician maintains that he was never violent with the TV personality and questioned why she would want another child with him if he was allegedly abusive.

As we recently covered, Jeannie Mai accused Jeezy, real name Jay Wayne Jenkins, of being violent with her on at least one occasion during one of their recent divorce hearings. In response, the South Carolina native vehemently denied the accusations and argued in a recent court motion that his ex was never afraid of him nor held against her will, and actually wanted to have another child with him.

In the court filing, Jeezy reportedly shared text messages showing Jeannie Mai's efforts to procreate with him again in order to cast doubt over her abuse allegations. Essentially, he was posing the question of why Jeannie would be eager to have more children with him if she was truly a victim of abuse. In several images obtained from the filing, the former host of The Real updated the rapper with her ovulation cycle, writing in one message:

"Welp. Tomorrow is when my eggs do what they do so u got one job capn" [target emoji]

Jeezy further claimed in the motion that Jeannie allegedly started consultations for IVF treatments after he initially sparked divorce conversations with her, and says she spent thousands in an attempt to conceive medically. However, Jeezy claims that he repeatedly told Jeannie that he wasn't interested in having any more children, which he says fueled her anger towards him.

Accusing his ex of attempting to tarnish his brand because he no long wants to be with her, Jeezy wrote in the court document:

"The claims by [Jeannie] are entirely fabricated and staged in an intentional effort to destroy the [rapper's] name, brand, and reputation because this divorce action was filed."



The former couple, who share 2-year-old daughter Monaco, have been going back and forth at one another since Jeezy first filed for divorce back in September of last year. It has not been reported that Jeannie has responded to her ex's latest response in court nor in the public at this time.
