Bears Rookie Fields Set for First Start; Dalton Out

Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields will make his first career start Sunday as Andy Dalton is expected to be out with a left knee injury, coach Matt Nagy told reporters Wednesday. Nick Foles will serve as Fields' backup Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. Dalton suffered the injury Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals after landing awkwardly on the Bears' sideline following a scramble. Dalton's his left knee appeared to buckle, and he immediately pointed to Fields to enter the game and headed to the blue injury tent to be examined. Dalton initially appeared to check out OK and reentered the game for a series before going back to the locker room before halftime and later being ruled out.

Fins Rule Tua Out vs. Raiders with Fractured Ribs

Fins Rule Tua Out vs. Raiders with Fractured Ribs

Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores met with the media Wednesday morning and included an update on injured quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, with the news not good. Flores stated that Miami's 2020 first-round pick has been ruled out of Sunday's Week 3 game at the Las Vegas Raiders after additional tests revealed Tagovailoa had sustained fractured ribs last week. Tagovailoa was injured during the first quarter of Miami's Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills. On a fourth-down attempt, Tagovailoa looked to throw a pass, but was hit as he tried to deliver the ball. The hit and being driven into the ground clearly hurt the quarterback, who immediately grabbed his ribs with a grimace on his face. He initially tried to stand up, then fell back to the turf. After a few more moments, he again tried to get up, but to no avail. After a couple of minutes, trainers managed to help Tagovailoa to his feet, but he gingerly walked to the sideline where they placed him on a cart and took him back to the locker room.

Cubs Lose to Twins

Cubs Lose to Twins

Of all the baseball games the Chicago Cubs have played in the 2021 season, Tuesday night's was most certainly one of them.
That's about the most positive thing I can say about a very long, mostly awful 9-5 loss to the Twins on a fall-like evening at Wrigley Field.
Alec Mills started this game off poorly, with hits allowed to the first two Twins batters. A stolen base and a bad throw by Willson Contreras scored the first Twins run and a sacrifice fly made it 2-0 within the game's first four batters.

Packers Beat Lions

Packers Beat Lions

And just like that, all seems right in Green Bay. The Packers were able to earn their first win of the regular season by defeating their NFC North rival Lions at Lambeau Field 35-17. That said, it did look like the Packers struggles that were apparent in their opening loss to the Saints were going to rear their head again as the Lions came out firing. They took an early lead thanks to a 75-yard touchdown drive to open the game and even went into the half with a three-point lead. However, Aaron Rodgers and Co. were able to step on the gas in the second half, outscoring the Lions 21-0 to close out the contest. Rodgers finished with four touchdowns on the night while completing 22 of his 27 throws for 255 yards.

White Sox Lose to Tigers

White Sox Lose to Tigers

Get 'em on, get 'em in, get it over with? Nope. If only things were that simple for the While Sox after a lifeless 4-3 loss to the Tigers on Monday in the opener of a three-game series at Comerica Park. The hard truth is, they're not even close. The Sox are near enough to a playoff spot to reach for the clock, tap the button and start the countdown to October. The Royals' doubleheader sweep in Cleveland knocked two games off the Sox' magic number, leaving it at two.

Bears Say Dalton Remains Starting QB if Healthy

Bears Say Dalton Remains Starting QB if Healthy

Chicago Bears quarterback Andy Dalton dodged a significant knee injury. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday morning that initial exams on Dalton showed no ACL tear and no damage to the MCL, per a source informed of the injury. An MRI confirmed that Dalton merely suffered a bone bruise in his knee. Coach Matt Nagy confirmed Dalton did not tear his ACL, adding the club would know more about the QB's timeline later tonight. Despite the injury to Dalton, Nagy wasn't prepared to discuss whether Justin Fields would take over as the Bears' starter. Asked if Dalton is the starter if healthy, Nagy replied, "That's something that I'm not going to get into with scheme." Suggested who starts at QB is not scheme-related, Nagy replied, "Of course it is. That's 100% scheme. That's 100% scheme."

Bears Beat Bengals 20-17

Bears Beat Bengals 20-17

The Chicago Bears and Cincinnati Bengals played a relatively clean first half of football, resulting in a close game. The narrative changed in the second half as they combined for five turnovers, including four on consecutive series from the Bengals. Andy Dalton was efficient in the first half until an ankle injury forced him to retire from the game, opening the door for Justin Fields, the No. 11 overall selection in the 2021 draft.
Fields completed 6 of his 13 passes for 60 yards and one interception. He is still searching for his first NFL passing touchdown. Joe Burrow, comparatively, threw three interceptions on consecutive pass attempts after having not thrown one in the prior 199 attempts. Tee Higgins, Ja'Marr Chase and Allen Robinson were on the receiving end of the game's three offensive touchdowns.

Chicago's magic number over Cleveland to clinch the division remained at five. Five pitchers combined on a three-hitter in ending a three-game Texas skid. Chicago Sports Recap

White Sox Beat Rangers - The White Sox were due for an easy win, suffering an entire second half that's basically been win one, lose one. They got that easy win, opening a weekend series in Texas with an 8-0 blowout. The first inning was kicked off by Tim Anderson getting a strange sort of double, and a single to shallow center by Luis Robert moved him along to third. Typically we'd probably see Anderson leg it out to home, but it seems (justifiably so) that the team wants to be cautious with him coming back from the IL. Click below to read more:

Cubs Lose to Brewers - It took a while for the Milwaukee Brewers to find their bearings as they began their final home stand of the season Friday night. But, with a helping hand from the Chicago Cubs' flammable bullpen, they finally kicked it into gear. Scoring four times in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Brewers rallied for an 8-5 victory over the Cubs at American Family Field, a welcomed bounce-back from getting swept two games in Detroit.
