The NBA has announced Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball as the 2020-21 NBA Rookie of the Year, edging out second-place Minnesota Timberwolves wing Anthony Edwards and third-place Sacramento Kings guard Tyrese Haliburton. Ball, the No. 3 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, averaged 15.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 43.6 percent from the field, 35.2 percent from deep and 75.8 percent from the line.
