Docs: Anderson man accused of child sex crimes, offered sex acts with minor on their birthday

DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. - A man faces charges related to child sex crimes after he reportedly sent sexually explicit messages to a 12-year-old.




According to court documents from the Delaware County Courts, 36-year-old Christopher Rex Delawter of Anderson, Ind. faces the following preliminary charges:

• Child molesting where the child is under the age of 14 (Level 1 Felony)





• Child solicitation (Level 4 Felony)





• Dissemination of a matter harmful to minors (Level 6 Felony)





• Sex crime involving inappropriate communication with a child (Class A Misdemeanor)

This all stems from an investigation dating back to February 11, 2025. Per the court documents, officers were called to a residence in the 14200 block of West 2nd Street in Daleville on the report of harassment.




When police arrived, they spoke to a father at the residence who told them a man - later identified as Delawter - was sending inappropriate texts to his child.




Per the documents, Delawter called the child "sexy" and offered to provide sex acts for the child's birthday.




Later, the messages continued. Court documents allege that Delawter reached out to the child again on April 9, claiming he could not stop thinking about them. He later reportedly sent a picture of his genitals to the 12-year-old, wanted to meet to have sex and requested a nude photo of them, the docs state.




Per court documents, Delawter told the juvenile he would meet them and perform sexual acts with the juvenile on April 29 at Walbridge Park, describing the vehicle he would be driving.




But when Delawter arrived at the park, court docs state that he was arrested "by uniformed police officers."




Currently, Delawter only faces preliminary charges, so no court date has been set. Final charging decisions - if any - will be made by the Delaware County Prosecutor's Office. FOX59/CBS4 will update this article once that information is made available.
